Match report “Catastrophe”, as skipper Perry Moore put it, after not only losing to Farnham Royal, but also seeing Sean Huckins break his ankle following a freak accident in the outfield.
Unlikely to play for at least 3 months Huckins was sped away to the local Wexham Park Hospital as Thatcham were left with10 men to face Farnham.

Not deterred though by being put in on a wicket tinged with green, Thatcham had put themselves in a good position as Iain Cottingham (32) and Gavin McDonald (51) produced a solid opening stand of 85.
The tide turned somewhat in the 31st over as McDonald needlessly ran himself out and then a controversial catch saw things start to ebb Farnham Royal’s way. Despite useful contributions from Steve Bird (19), Tom Donnelly (18) and sidney Barnes (14 not out) Thatcham finished on a disapponting 167-9.from 47 overs I.Bopari (4-37) and skipper J.deans (3-66) the principle wicket takers.

Chasing the relatively modest total Farnham Royals batsmen opened against wily old fox Tim Mahoney (1-42), but gradually began to make head way into Thatcham’s total.
Unlikely bowling star though was Barnes (2-35) as he picked up the important wickets of Pulsford (38) and Bucknell (17) to put Thatcham in a good position only to find the experienced Perkins in fine form.
Next to step up to the mark was leg spinner Andrew Bayliss (2-20) and he promptly removed Perkins for (34) and Vanas for (26).
Thatcham kept pressing for wickets with skipper Moore (1-32) getting in on the act, but despite a few scares Farnham Royal got home by 4 wickets in the fading light.
