Match report Thatcham travelled to Hertfordshire on Saturday to face Old Merchant Taylors 2nd XI and came away with an emphatic 7 wicket display thanks largely to a fine all round performance by Ravi Michandani.

Electing to field Thatcham struck immediately through Tim Burnett (1-33). Gavin Ansell (3-38) also made inroads in to OMT’s top order, but skipper Richard Winkle looked in good touch before driving Malcolm Bloor (3-23 )to cover for (59) as Bloor and Ravi Mirchandani (3-38) put the squeeze on the home side as 6 wickets fell for 50 runs in the last 20 overs.

With 52 over’s in which to get the runs Josh Winfield again looked polished before his premature departure, but fellow opener Neil Stevenson ( 40 ) played an anchor role as he was joined by Mirchandani who looked in good form from the very start and together they gradually gained momentum.
One Stevenson had departed Steven Bartholomew then supported Mirchandani as he flayed the bowling all round the park grounds to finish with an unbeaten (89) and with Bartholomew unbeaten on (19) Thatcham raced home with 10 overs and 7 wickets in hand as the gloom set in.
