Match report Simon Lewis put his miserable start to the season behind him with a faultless and quite brilliant 90* in the Weds night Downs League fixture at Brownsfield vs Blewbury & Wallingford to lead his side to victory - 3 out of 3 wins as Thatcham Academy set the pace in Div 2.

Earlier, some excellent bowling from the youngsters helped pin back an outstanding Blewbury & Wallingford batting line up after their openers had set an ominous partnership. Josh Winfield's threat with pace and bounce was called upon to break the opening partnership (his figures 1/29) and was well supported by the loopy left arm orthodox of Rhodri Lewis (4-0-25-2), and in particular the medium pacers of Elliot Denton-Powell (4-0-25-2) and George Armstrong (4-0-26-2) all in amongst the wickets but with impressive economy rates, with Jack Crowden swinging it miles. This restricted the visitors to 139 when 160+ looked well on.

Simon Lewis then led the post interval assault ably supported by Rhys Williams and Josh Winfield (35*) as the target was reached inside 16 overs. Winfield then helped himself to two meals of fish and chips with the comment to the youngsters "you don't get a body like this without eating."
EDP then followed up his good bowling and hoovered the club floor to a standard that Frank Bird would be proud of.
