Match report Thatcham played Odiham & Greywell on a sunny Saturday afternoon. After winning the toss Thatcham led by Eddie Wylie put Odiham into bat. They opened the bowling with the pace of Matt Taylor and Tim Burnett and Taylor got Thatcham off to a great start picking up a wicket in his second over, but then the two Odiham batters then got into their stride and started to increase the tempo of the innings by playing their shots. Just when it looked like they were getting away from Thatcham Taylor picked up two quick wickets to drag the scoring rate back down.
Wylie and Tim Mahoney came into the attack and both bowled well so that at the halfway stage Odiham were 120 for 4 which soon turned into 141 for 7. Unfortunately, as the case has been this season their remaining batsmen started playing their shots to good effect and managed to get the total up to 223 all out in 50.4 overs with Taylor finishing off with 4 63, Burnett 2 for 82 and Tim Mahoney 3 for 36.

With Thatcham needing about 4 and half over they got of the worst possible start with the quick loss of Kieran Lynch and Steve Bartholomew to leave thatcham 5 for 2. A partnership was needed and that was delivered by Josh Winfield and Tom Mahoney who started steadily before playing their shots, adding 63 before Winfield was lbw for a well played 34.
Graham Squires came in and started to rotate the strike well to keep the scoring rate going but the loss of Mahoney for a fine 42 saw Thatcham slip to 150 for 6. Squires was still going well and with support from Andy Bayliss (17) and Eddie Wylie (15no) Thatcham were still in with a chance but when Squires was dismissed for 36 a draw was all they had left to play for. This wasn’t to be however as they were bowled out for 182 with four overs remaining.
