Match report Thatcham lost ground on leaders Kidmore End as the rain put paid to their hopes of victory in a frustrating afternoon at Brownsfield.
Requiring just 38 runs to secure the points but with only 4 wickets remaining, Thatcham were marginal favourites when the predicted weather closed in and despite the best efforts of all concerned, the umpires had little choice but to abandon proceedings.
In sunnier conditions earlier in the day, Bagshot had laboured to a below par 153 thanks mainly to a defiant 9th wicket partnership between Shilton (44) and Passfield (30) with Thatcham once again lacking the penetration to finish off a side that had struggled to 95-8.
Chris Bird (5-24) was the tormentor in chief, with Scott Gibson (2-36) and Duncan Johnson (2-6) chipping in as Bagshot struggled against a disciplined bowling attack. Only Roome (21) had shown the required application until the crucial late partnership that ultimately saved the game for the Baggies.
Thatcham equally struggled in reply with Grinstead (3-54) removing the top order as Bagshot battled hard to defend their total, and at 38-4 the visitors were in the ascendancy. But Jamie Young's boundary only 32 rapidly reduced the required runs and despite a couple of further wickets, Thatcham felt relatively confident at 116-6 when the heavens opened.
Bagshot would have equally fancied their chances but no further play was possible leaving Chris Wright (32) and John Williams (18) the not out batsmen in a disappointing end to a closely fought encounter.
