Match report Thatcham II finished their season with a comfortable victory against a weakened Royal Ascot at Brownsfield on Saturday.

The damp conditions meant Robb Fraser asked Ascot to bat on winning the toss and the home side struck immediately as a fine piece of fielding by Jason Williams saw Wensley run out in the first over. Tim Mahoney soon got in on the act, trapping Kendall lbw for nought.
Davies (17) looked to be positive from the start, punishing anything remotely short but this proved to be his downfall as Peter Edgcombe cramped him for room and he was the first of four victims for Daniel Stone behind the stumps. English and Ascot skipper Baker then put together the only partnership of note before Edgcombe dismissed the opener for 19.
Following a couple of short breaks for rain there then followed a procession as Edgcombe and Mahoney exploited the seam friendly conditions superbly. Mahoney (2-34) bowled Wiggett and Edgcombe kept moving the ball just enough to find the edge of the bat as Stone did the rest, with the catch to dismiss May a real cracker. Baker was still in and had progressed to 30 when he miscued to mid on where Iain Cottingham displayed his usual level of athleticism to make a simple catch as difficult as possible.
The innings closed soon afterwards on 93 with Mahoney plucking a fast edge out of the sky to give Edgcombe another victim as he finished with 7-37 from 16.2 overs.

With the weather closing in Sean Huckins went up the order and showed his intentions by taking ten from the first over from May. Jamie Romer bowled well without luck at the other end but with Gavin McDonald offering solid support the pair brought up the half century in the 13th over.
With only 36 needed Huckins was bowled by May for 38 and McDonald (19) and Stone (8) fell in the same over soon afterwards but Martin Keep, 8 not out, and Fraser with 16 not out saw Thatcham home in the 27th over.
