Match report Thatcham 3rd Xi produced a much better performance this week against Hurst 2nd xi. Electing to bat Thatcham progressed slowly against accurate bowling, however Jamie Young played patiently for his (69) which laid the foundation for the innings. Malcolm Bloor (37) Nick Voller (17) and Liam Redmond (20 not out) took the total to 217-8 from 52 overs. J.Polstan took 5-45 for the home side.

In reply Thatcham reduced Hurst to 29-3 thanks to Voller (2-59) and Mike Hobbs (1-22). But then Riazuddin showed his class and with skipper Fillingham (46) looked to have put Hurst in a winning position until Riazuddin was brilliantly run out by Hobbs for 66, Fillingham also fell the same way as Thatcham increased the pressure by tight bowling from Bloor (1-28). After Fillingham’s demise Hurst ran out of steam and finished on 178-6.
