Match report Thatcham Town registered another great win in this weeks TVL first division match with Marlow.

Thatcham lost the toss and Marlow elected to field. Marlow were quickly in the ascendancy with the Marlow captain Dickinson taking the attack to Thatcham and Paskins providing good early support. With Ali Naqvi struggling for line and length, a quick change from Harland brought Julian Wood on to replace Naqvi, bringing the wickets of Paskins and Dicknson, with Asiam following shortly afterwards. Leaving Marlow with work to do at 45-3.

The introduction of Chris Bird for Harland increased the pressure on the new men, Firth and Hudson, they batted sensibly to restore order to the innings but Firth fell for 25 to a running mix-up and Hudson quickly followed for 22 to some smart bowling from Bird.

Ali Naqvi returned taking two wickets in an over and Wood returning to take a wicket from the other end to leave Marlow with much to do at 129-9. However JJ Haq was in fine form, retaining the strike and hitting the ball to all parts of the ground and beyond! He batted superbly to reach 59 before he was undone by a slower ball from Harland. Marlow reaching 169 all out.

Thatcham response was similarly attacking, with Julian Wood and Steve Wyatt attacking from the first over. Both playing some fine attacking shots which left Marlow with little response. Wood was the first to fall for 42, but Wyatt and Johnson continued in great form, punishing anything loose. However Wyatt and Johnson fell in quick succession for 67 and 25 respectively. Thatcham relied on Ali Naqvi and Dan Stone to finish the job.

Another great win, the lads are really sticking to the task. Hopefully James Ettridge will return this week (toe) and Nick Bishop will also be back. Creates some interesting selection headaches as the lads are all in good form.
