Match report Thatcham Town 4th XI maintained their unbeaten run with a comfortable 142 run victory over a depleted NPL Teddington 3rd XI on Saturday.

Batting first the top three Thatcham batsmen all reached 50, with openers Micky Stone (64) and Paul Roberts (52) sharing a fine opening stand of 124 in only 22 overs. The good work was continued by Paul Sharp who held the innings together with an undefeated 59 as Thatcham, despite a middle order collapse, reached 222 for 7 after 46 overs at the declaration.

D Merchant was the most successful Teddington bowler finishing with 4 for 44 from his 14 overs.

After much deliberation Thatcham opened the attack with the old ball and this proved to be the correct option as Tony Wimbush and Dave Wells picked up 4 quick wickets to have Teddington reeling at 3 for 4 in the 5th over. The good work was continued by youngsters Matt Taylor with 5 overs for 11, Eddie Wylie with 4 overs for 14 and Daniel Stephenson who bowled full and straight to take 3 for 5 as Teddington were reduced to 55 for 8.

Teddington youngster B Lang with a fine 36 not out supported by T Mackintosh added some respectability to the score with a 25 run ninth wicket partnership before Neil Stevenson with 2 quick wickets brought an end to proceedings with the Teddington total on 80.

A one sided game but 25 valuable points none the less to take Thatcham to 2nd place in Div 7A.
