Match report Thatcham recovered from 20-4 to record back to back wins to finish the season.

Having won the toss Thatcham elected to bat on a tricky pitch hoping that they’re bowlers would get good use of the surface later in the day. It was a terrible start for a Thatcham as they slumped to 20-4. All dismissals being LBW, with 3 of those being questionable decisions. Rochfort (12) was the year to go, followed by Young for 2, Cooper for 2 and Gilmour for 8. It would of been easy for Thatcham to collapse considering the circumstances, however the side showed grit and determination in abundance to get out of the hole they were in. Vice Captain Jamie Young and young star Lewis put on 80 runs in a partnership of real character. The pair rotated the strike well and pounced on anything wayward from the opposition. Lewis was then adjudged LBW for 20. Young continued and he passed a fine 50 while the incoming Wells looked to up the scoring rate. The score moved on to 150 when Wells (15) was out caught of the bowling of Sheldon. Then came the big wicket for Kidmore End as Young was caught for a very well made 64. The Thatcham tail wagged as they added 29 valuable runs with Bishop (12), Green (5*) and Mackay (5*) hitting some lusty blows. From 20-4 Thatcham managed to post an extremely competitive 179-9.

Early wickets were needed for Thatcham, and as usual Gilmore delivered as he had the Kidmore End opener LBW for 1. Green then reduced the score to 24-2 as he removed the other opener for 21, caught by Young. Gilmour added a third, bowling Ashby for 4. Kidmore End then looked to rebuild as Sheldon (21) and Leach (30) looked to bring the game to Thatcham. The score on 96-3, with 16 overs remaining, Thatcham’s spin trio grabbed the game or the visitors. Bird had Sheldon LBW, then Lewis took 3 quick wickets, including danger-man Leach. Bishop then got in on the act and Lewis got his 4th to leave the game in no doubt. The returning Gilmour claimed his 3rd wicket to leave the hosts 131 all out. A dramatic collapse which saw Thatcham take 7 wickets for 35 runs. Lewis returning figures of 4-34 and Gilmour 3-16

A great way for thatcham to end the season, and all attention turns to next year where Young is confident his team can challenge for promotion.
