Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 3XI- Saturday v Yateley II on Sat 17 Jul 2010 at 1.30pm
Thatcham Town Cricket Club Won by 16 runs
Match report
Thatcham 3rd xi produced a fine win against a talented young Yateley side on Saturday although it was Thatcham‘s veterans who paved the way for victory.
Put into bat Thatcham made a steady start through Liam Redmond (17) and Neil Stevenson (15), but a change of pace soon had Thatcham floundering on 62-5. Ravi Mirchandani continued his recent good form as he alone seemed to stand in the way of a route. He did though find one ally in Will Harwood (11) who helped Mirchandani take thatcham beyond the 100 mark. With dogged defence and selected hitting mirchandani somehow got Thatcham to 155 before they were bowled out with Mirchandani (70 not out).
T.Walter (3-28) being Yateley’s most successful bowler.
In response Yateley were reduced to 32-5 thanks mainly to another Thatcham veteran, skipper Malcolm Bloor (4-49), who took 4 wickets in the space of 4 overs. Skipper John Muir (36) and Ryan Bone (18), then began to rebuild the innings until the introduction of Kevin Liversidge (4-19) who removed bone and soon after at 119-9 Thatcham looked home and dry, but Muir hung on until the score had reached 139 when Liversidge clipped the top of his off stumped to give Thatcham victory by 16 runs and a most valuable 25 points.
