Match report Thatcham enjoyed a comfortable 91 run victory over local rivals Falkland in a 45 over match at Brownsfield on Saturday.

Asked to bat the home side started brightly with a 62 run opening partnership between Bradman Ediriweera and Matt Denness before Denness was lbw to Neil Gunter for 15. Another 50 run partnership between Ediriweera and Ddaniel Stone followed, Stone playing very well for his 20, before chipping Nissar to extra cover. Partnerships were the key to the thatcham innings, Chris Wright adding 51 with Ediriweera until a sharp piece of work by Mark Foster saw the talented Sri Lankan stumped off Zafar for a fine 94. Wright soon followed for a breezy 23 and wickets then fell regularly in the push for a good total, although there was time for quick 37 from Thatcham skipper Duncan Johnson before he was unluckily run out backing up at the non-strikers and Steve Bartholomew added 14 not out at the death to push the home score up to 243-7 at the end of the 45 overs.
Zafar, 9 overs 2-36 and the evergreen Nigel Trumper, 9 overs 0-27 were the pick of the visiting attack.

A tight opening 10 overs from Nick Bishop and Pete Edgcombe soon snuffed out any hopes Falkland had of reaching the target, Bishop picking up the wickets of Bloodworth and Gowland in his 2-28 from 9 overs. Andy Harland and Chris Bird then bowled superbly in tandem and ripped out the Falkland middle order, Harland picking up Amir and Tom Heath and Bird bowled 9 overs of beautifully controlled left arm spin taking out the dangerous trio of Zafar, Dyer and Gunter in his 3-18.
It was left to Ediriweera to wrap up the innings with the wickets of Trumper and Foster, with Nissar left unbeaten on 33 and Falkland all out for 152 in 41 overs.

It was a good all round performance from the home side to lead into the Thames Valley League season this Saturday at Brownsfield with the visit of Marlow.
