Match report An experienced Thatcham 2nd duly completed a comfortable 39 run victory over a youthful Purley team at the recreational ground Purley. Old timers Bishop and Cottingham opened the innings with little alarm until Bishop (9) was strangled down the legside, this brought in Edgecombe who played with confidence driving powerfully until he was caught for 25. At 62-2 entered Danny Stone, playing with initial circumspection, the defining partnership of 130 in 20 overs, Stone departed for a well constructed 52, thereafter Cottingham continued to strike the ball powerfully with a straight 6 the highlight with him duly completing his century 101 not out, the innings closing on 219-3 with Batholomew striking a couple of blows in the final over.

After team the opening attack of Williams and Chapple bowled tightly with Williams inducing a lofted drive from opener Hall, Williams continued his good form by bowling Mungford round his legs, with the score at 49-2after 16 overs. Thatcham then rotated their bowling attack with Heaver looking impressive, bowling Newham for 0, thereafter a solid partnership 80 between Hinds and Measham was formed with Measham striking Edgecombe for a couple of leg side boundaries, eventually the partnership was broken by Bishop. Wickets continued to tumble with Edgecombe Stephenson and Heaver taking wickets, eventually Purley closed on 174-9 after their 42 overs.
