Match report Another loss for Thatcham keeps them bottom of the table as they entertained Finchampstead at home.
Thatcham were asked to bat first and got off to a steady start with a new opening partnership of Josh O'Flynn (24) and Kiwi Scott Gibson (6) on what was a testing wicket. The pick of the Finchampstead bowlers was Taylor (5-39) and he used the helpful conditions and bowled a superb spell taking wickets at regular intervals and leaving Thatcham struggling at 64 for 6.
This brought the Williams brothers together and they went about repairing the damage with aggressive running and intelligent batting taking the score to 123 before Jason (23) fell trying to push the score along.
When John Williams was dismissed cheaply Danny (36) was running out of partners, talented all rounder Jack Young (10) joined Danny and helped push the score along before Williams was caught on the line.
Thatcham finished their innings on 145 in their 52 overs.

In reply Finchampstead got off to a poor start losing quick wickets against the old ball in a fine opening spell from Ali Naqvi (3-72) and John Williams (2-37).
Finchampstead were reeling at 31-5 with some fine catching to assist the bowling but the rain interval proved to be the turning point as Bell (83 not out) came out and played his shots allowing Gary Loveday (42) to hold up the other end.
This didn't prevent Thatcham from trying to win the game and when Josh O'Flynn (2-15) took two quick wickets, the game could have gone either way.
In the end Bell took his chances and his innings proved to be a winning performance guiding Finchampstead home by three wickets.
