Match report Thatcham won the toss and elected to bat first on a good looking wicket at Shiplake College.

However they lost Josh O’Flynn in the first over. This brought Dan Stone (55) to the wicket to join his captain Danny Williams (36) as Thatcham progressed nicely to 91 in the 30th over when Williams was out to a splendid catch.
Ali Naqvi soon followed and Stone’s patient innings came to an end with the score on 107. The scoring rate accelerated with Paul Jenkins (31) and Jason Williams (38) adding very good runs with a partnership of 54 runs before Jenkins chipped a simple catch to mid off. This left Thatcham a few overs to reach their minimum target of 200 and they got there thanks to some intelligent batting from Jack Young and Chris Bird, whose knock included the biggest six in living memory. However, a total of 202 all out in the last over was probably 30 short.

Henley’s innings got off to a poor start as they were soon in trouble at 10 for 2 with Chris Bird and Ali Naqvi taking a wicket apiece. Unfortunately that was as good as it got for Thatcham as the home side played steadily to start with through the experienced pairing of Chris Ellison and Darren White.
They gradually increased the rate in a way that Thatcham hadn’t been able to and although White was dismissed by Bird for 64 Horne made sure there were no further alarms as Henley got to their target with 3 overs to spare with Ellison reaching a fine century as he struck the winning runs.
