Match report Thatchams strong bowling attack restricted Woodlands to a score of 165 all out in 35:2 overs with John Wellwest top scoring for the visitors on 57 before being caught by Bragg off the bowling of Mick Stone.

Stone ended with figures of 4 for 33 in 7 overs - Ed Wylie with 3 for 25 off 8:2 overs - Gavin Ansell with 7 overs 4 maidens for 16 runs.

Thatcham's batting attack should have had a field day but instead were put through the mill -
Piers Bragg hit a strong 19 runs before being caught by Barnes off the bowling of Bloomfield - John Williams played well and hit a brisk 45 off 27 balls before getting cleaned bowled by Barnes.
Mick Stone got 15 before getting out LBW off Razaq - but it was Gavin Ansell who took on the task of chasing the score down.

Coming in at 101 for 6 with plenty of overs left it looked easy - but two really quick wickets had Thatcham on 109 for 8 as Woodlands bought their opening bowlers back into the attack.

Young Tommy Mather came in to bat with the score at 115 for 9 and it looked like damage limitation time - but the 14 year old came in with an old head on those young shoulders - he batted very sensibly with Gavin to score an un beaten 9 - Ansell top scoring with 48 not out and Thatcham taking the score to 166 on the first ball of Woodlands' 39th over for a narrow but welcome victory.

Mark Bloomfields 9 overs 1 maiden 3 wickets for 33 runs - David Coates 9 overs 2 maidens 3 wickets for 47 runs - Razaq with 9 overs 3 maidens 2 wickets for 23 were the best of Woodlands' bowlers.

All in all a great match played in a gentlemanly spirit all afternoon.
