Match report Any match played on a dull wet day in June with 7 colts and only 4 adults was always going to be an uphill struggle – fortunately for the Thatcham team Woodlands not only provide the hill – but play their cricket in a style which makes the game a pleasure!

Woodlands had determined to avenge the narrow defeat inflicted by Thatcham a couple of weeks ago and did so in spades.
Despite opening bowler Ian Parry-Belcher’s opening over taking the wicket of Batchelor for nought – John Wells-West again dominated the Thatcham bowlers with an impressive display of batting throughout the 42 overs finishing not out for 103 – runs too for David Coates (69) and Mark Thatcher (34) built a total of 258 for Thatcham to chase.
Of the Thatcham bowlers Tommy Mather was very impressive (0 for 13 in 7 overs) and Ollie Black (1 for 32 in 5 overs) gaining his first wicket in a senior match and Mark Gregory (2 for 54 in 9 overs) bowled well among the seniors – but Woodlands were impressed by the standard of Thatcham’s colts all afternoon.

Thatcham were always going to struggle and with the early wickets of Peter Spriggs and Piers Bragg and Thatcham 3 for 2 at the end of the 4th over this was a himilayan task for the following batsmen.
Highlights for Thatcham were a good pairing of Jamie Woolard (15 runs) and Tom Cogdell (13 runs) who looked like steadying the ship for a good 10-15 over spell – then Tommy Mather (18 runs) and Ian Parry-Belcher (20 runs) also pushed the score along – however when Ian lost his wicket 5 balls into the 38th over it was all over and Thatcham were all out for just 96 runs.
