Match report Thatcham suffered another home defeat on Saturday as they went down by 7 wickets against Kew on Saturday.

Electing to bat first a weakened Thatcham struggled against the movement from both Kew opening bowlers Cameron 4-19 and Johnson 0-18 as they reduced to home side to 27 for 4 with only Ettridge (18) reaching double figures.

However, Thatcham dug in as Matt Denness and Simon Rider (18) attempted to rebuild the innings. They added 57 for the 5th wicket before Kew skipper Tindall removed Denness for 37.

This prompted a Thatcham collapse as they lost their last 6 wickets for the addition of only 10 runs as their innings crashed to 94 all out. Kew skipper R Tindall did most of the damage as he finished with impressive figures of 5 for 7 from 5.2 overs.

The Kew openers started well and appeared to be cruising to victory, however Julian Wood removed Griffin and two balls later up rooted Ali Jaffer’s off stump as Kew wobbled at 25 for 2. Nick Bishop applied the break at the other end and Kew’s scoring slowed. Wood again up rooted the off stump to send Fridericks back to the pavilion to leave Kew 44 or 3.

Thatcham continued to fight hard but with Taylor 37 not out and Wellings 21 not out picking up runs from the loose deliveries Kew reached the required total for the loss of only 3 wickets. Wood finished with 3 for 31 from 10 overs and was the pick of the Thatcham attack.
