Match report West Reading won the toss and decided to have a bat. Allison and Steadman opened the bowling for Thatcham both bowled well but unlucky not to take a wicket, before being replaced by Rahman and Mather. It didn’t take long before Mather got the break through getting Ahemd (12) LBW. With the score on 40 for 1 W. Reading middle order collapsed with Mather taking Sadiq (2) and a catch by Steadman taking M. Iran (2), A. Karn(0) being ran out, a catch by Lavender getting rid of Nasser (0) Singh (0) getting ran out. This put Thatcham in a good position with W. Reading on 50 for 6. Davidson joined W. Readings opener Ghoddusi to push the score on before Skipper Rochford asked the colts to bowl Denton-Powell and T. Coltard bowled well, especially as it was Coltards first senior match. Melville and Wylie came onto bowl with Wylie taking Ghoddusi (30) LBW. Mather came on for another spell mopping up Zamam (13) and Z. Karn (0) and Wylie ending the innings with a catch from Sopp, leaving Davidson not out 53 and W. Reading all out 132. Mather finished with figure of 5 for 19 from 6 overs.
Thatcham opened with the experienced of Rochford (3) and Sopp (9) but both fell cheaply before Lavender started to move the score on losing Denton-Powell (0) and Rahman (0) quickly and joined by Wylie who put on a partnership of 70 before Lavender (41) was bowled around his legs. Melville (2) Coltart (1) and Steadman (0) all came and went. With Wylie (29)being caught, Allison (8) and Mather (3) made an attempt to get to get to the winning score but were short by 20 runs.
