Match report In the last match of the season Thatcham Town took on their local rivals Falkland at the Brownsfield. With Thatcham winning the toss and electing to have a bat Williams and the debutant Captain Lavender opened the batting with the pace attack from Afridi and Coventry, Williams (3) went in the second over. Lavender was then joined by Hartley-Russell who both started to score at a rapid pace hitting Falkland at 7 runs an over. Hartley-Russell (39) was caught before Winfield (13) soon went LBW. Lavender was unlucky to be dismissed on 49 but Lewis (52) played a majestic innings with Wylie another not quite reaching their 50 falling one short. Mather and Denton-Powell fell quickly, leaving Rowsell and Allison to push the total onto 255 for 9.

Falkland replied with Gopal (4) going from a great bowling spell from Allison but then Bloor and Carlisle (15) putting on 58 runs before Lewis took a good catch off Hartley-Russell. Bloor (65) played some lovely strokes all around the ground before falling LBW to the young Denton-Powell. Then Father and Son S and N Pitcher came together and quickly scored 88 runs. N. Pitcher (51) went in Allison’s second spell. Hartley-Russell took Afridi second ball and White went with without scoring leaving S. Pitcher and Grimmond to chase down the runs. S. Pitcher (52) was caught from Winfields bowling leaving Falkland 22 short of the total.
