Match report A good first outing with a mix of seniors and colts under the eye of the Saturday 2s and 3s skippers in scenic Yattendon on a barmy evening. Batting first Thatcham were steadied by the excellent Peter Spriggs (40*) who batted for the first time ever with brother Jona, and once joined by the smart batting of Stephen Bird (39*) accelerated and posted a good score of 123/3 in 15 8-ball overs.

Woolley Badgers set about chasing, and Stephen Pope's wicket was one for the local derby rivalry, Eddie Wylie bowling him with his only ever perfect yorker. Nathan Redmond was the pick of the bowlers with tight lines and all of that after 18 holes of golf - he must be aching this morning. But after Bingley was bowled by Winfield, Warne (37*) and the effective village batting (golf?) display of Warburton (56) who demolished the unfortunate Matt Taylor (thanks for coming, £5 please) saw the Woolley Badgers comfortably homes with 3 overs to spare. Jona Spriggs bowled a good over and picked up Warburton late on, Ben Denton Powell also grabbed a late wicket, whilst Will Rowsell impressivley stemmed the run flow in his 2 overs. Josh Winfield earned the Cottie award for worst fielding, conceding 4 runs through a poor long barrier and suffering much abuse from his team mates. Dave Taylor spent much of his time diving about in the field and jarring his injured shoulder further. 2s skipper S Bird went home shaking his head after a discussion about Eddie Wylie's eating habits (cheese and chips) but enjoyed the pint of Good Old Boy. The lamb hot pot at the Royal Oak was good eh?
