Match report Thatcham Town continued their good start to the league season with a four wicket victory against Yateley on Saturday.

Thatcham won the toss and elected to field with instant results as Callum Johnson struck in the first over. Thatcham oontinued to pile on the pressure as Johnson and Scott Gibson (3-33) bowled testing lines and soon had Yateley 55 for 5 after 16 overs.

Spinners Chris Bird and John Willams (1-27) ensured that the visitors were kept under control untill the return of 17 year old Johnson who picked up further wickets to finish with 4 for 41 from 14 overs.

It was left to Josh O Flynn (1-13) to wrap up the innings with Yateley on 143 in the 47th over. Harris 62 not out rode his luck and skipper Peace (23) were the mainstay of the Yateley effort.

Thatcham's innings began cautiously with both Muir and Niblett swinging the new ball. However, with the score on 11 for 1 from 12 overs, Thatcham's batsmen turned up the heat and raced to 81 for 2 when Matt Denness (26) played on in the 20th over.

Felix Hartley Russell was now finding the boundary with regular aplomb until one big shot too many led to his departure for (84) with two 6's and 14 4's and the score on 132 for 3. The home side some how managed to loss a further three wickets in the chase but with (20) from Duncan Johnson and a Jamie Young pull shot Thatcham got home in the 32nd over.
