Reading 2nd v Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 1XI- Saturday on Sat 10 Aug 2013 at 1.00pm
Match was Drawn

Match report Thatcham Town travelled to Reading 2nds on Saturday with the hope of a maximum point victory to keep them in the promotion hunt.
The first job was done when Den won the toss and elected to bat first.
Thatcham were progressing nicely, thanks to Boneher 30, Rossco 17 until he tried to lump one into the A4 and was caught. Youngie again looked good for his 17 but got confused as he tried to hit the ball on the ground for 6 and was caught in the deep 67 for 2. Wickets tumbled as the Thatcham collapse showed up and it was 88 for 6. The Cheeky fell LBW as he forgot he had a bat to hit the ball. Dunc padding up to a straight one, just after running out Chet for 0. The former school sprints champion, struggled to make it half way and is a much slower runner than Chris Bird, who’s angling skills are also superior.
The Reading wicket was proving difficult to play aggressive shots on and a slow outfield made scoring freely difficult, but Flynndog 33 showed again that he can bat and CJ batted sensible and rebuilt the innings to 139 for 7, until Flynnie fell trying to force the pace, to be honest I don’t know what he was doing. Den was forced to bat for the first time in five weeks and somehow managed 11 not out as he joined Johnson jnr as they added 31 from the last 3 overs to take Thatcham to 170 for 7 from 52 overs. CJ finished unbeaten on a valuable 40 good work.
Tea produced a revelation as it was discovered that Youngster had been moonlighting in the Reading Ladies hockey team.
So back out to the field for an exciting afternoon’s cricket. Oh my mistake the Readings innings started slowly and then got slower as they never threatened our total.
Bealer and DJ XXXL using the old ball, chipped away at the home team and reduced them to 59 for 7. However, Reading had pulled down the shutters and were safely tucked in the dot ball bunker as the innings limped along at less than 2 runs an over. Gibbo took the new ball removed Reading Skipper A Nasim for 14 good nut to be fair to keep Thatcham’s hope alive. A sharp catch by Cheeky who took two minutes to let go of the ball again, reduced Reading to 95 for 9 with 10 balls remaining, but we were unable to remove the final batsman as the innings yawned to a conclusion at 95 for 9 from 48 overs. Bealer 4-24 for 17 over and DJ 4-45 from 18 overs were the pick of the Thatcham bowlers and Subhani 23 top scored for the home side.
