Match report What a great match!


Bowling:

We started off very well with the bowling of Rhys (3-0-12-2)and Louis (3-0-21-1) followed by Rhodri (3-1-10-3) and Harvey (3-0-13-0). Also, our fielding is getting better after our last match but this still needs work. We need to work on the "long barrier". Throwing and backing up was a lot better. A special mention for Jamie and Ollie very good in the field, we managed 2 run outs, good work. Plus, there must be a champagne moment Michael stopping the ball crossing the boundary for 4 with his chin, that is commitment! I have seen Matt keep better than last night but it was a very difficult pitch to keep on as the wicket fell away at both ends making the ball a lot harder to stop, your positioning from the throws was a lot better. keep it up Matt!

Our second strike bowlers Adam, Jamie, Hassan and Michael did a good job with a special mention for Odhin (3-0-15-1). We need to work on "Wide's" and "No Balls" we gave away 33 runs which was far higher than any of their batsman!

Batting:

129 runs was a lot to chase down and it seemed an daunting task to begin with but I was confident! Usually, both Louis (5) and Rhodri (4) retire when they get their 25 runs but Rhodri was on a suicidal mission with his run out. Rhys (22) as usual played a very sensible innings defending the good ball and slapping the bad ball. If his low drive went to any other fielder it would have been dropped, well done Rhys. Matt (4), tried really hard hitting his first boundary. Adam (2), came and went. And then in came the mighty Harvey joined by Jamie. Jamie, (5) running between the wickets supporting Harvey was very good plus hitting a boundary. Harvey, was then joined by Michael this pair put on a classic partnership with good defending and quick between the wickets and hitting the bad ball. Eventually, Harvey (19), was bowled, swinging at a ball that if he connected would of landed in Newbury. Odhin, came to the crease knew what was required defended his first ball and then tried to hit a six but couldn't quite get it over the field. That left Ollie and Michael requiring 15 off the last 2 overs with Michael hitting a 4 and Ollie keeping his end up it looked possible but the last over was bowled very well, which left us 4 runs short of the total. Well played!
