Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 2XI- Saturday v STOKE GREEN on Sat 28 Jul 2007 at 1.30pm
Thatcham Town Cricket Club Won by 3 wickets
Match report
Stoke Green lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a green looking wicket. Peter Edgcombe (5-33) claimed 2 wickets in his first over and when he took his third in the 5th Stoke Green were reeling at 5 for 3. At the other end Paul Jenkins (2-21) made further inroads dismissing Simpson and McMullan for ducks. Malik and Holdship put on 28 for the 6th wicket before swinger Brendan Trump (1-18) had Malik caught by Patel in the slips. John Williams’ (2-10) left arm magic continued where Trump left off and a one handed diving catch by Cottingham set up Edgcombe to take the final Stoke Green wicket, Rajah, caught in the deep by Patel.
In reply Ijaz Cottingham (20) and Stephen Bartholomew (21) put on 40 against the best bowling attack in the division before youngster Tom Donnelly (11) replaced Bartholomew. Cottingham departed in the next over making way for Rakesh Patel (4) who made way for Paul Jenkins (0) who in turn made way for Drew McKenzie (0) caught behind first ball. A level headed John Williams (18) steadied the ship with some clean hitting but when he and Donnelly departed in consecutive overs it was left to Liam Redmond (5 no) and veteran Edgcombe (4 no) to see Thatcham home with 3 wickets and plenty of overs in hand.
