CHISWICK & LATYMER 4 v Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 3XI- Saturday on Sat 07 Jul 2007 at 1.30pm
Thatcham Town Cricket Club Won by 90 runs
Match report
Thatcham 3rd XI travelled to Chiswick House on Saturday and returned triumphant following a 90 run victory.
Put into bat on a bowler friendly wicket wasn’t thought a problem with a very strong batting line up, however 40 minutes later with the score on 31-5 things looked bleak, only Steve Bartholomew (20) of the top order reaching double figures. A partnership with skipper for the day Malcolm Bloor was blossoming until Bartholomew became Warsi ‘s 4th victim of the day. However Batholomew did not return to the pavilion as he was required to act as runner for Bloor. Bloor batted patiently at first gradually pushing the total to respectability and with Nathan Redmond (31) put on an invaluable 66 runs for the 8th wicket. When the last wicket fell the score had reached an unlikely 188 with Bloor unbeaten on (70). Warsi finishing with an impressive 6-76 from 24 overs.
Pete Edgcombe, having his first competitive bowl in nearly a year proved to be Thatcham’s match winner as he reeled off 17 overs of quality seam bowling destroying the home side with figures of (8-28). John Sabberton (2-32) picked up the other wickets as Chiswick were routed for 98 giving the 3rd XI of Thatcham their first league victory of the year.
