Thames Valley League – Division 7A

A depleted Thatcham Town 4th XI proved to be no match for the all conquering Henley side who have won all their games and ended the season run-away champions of Div 7A.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Thatcham never really got going and although a determined 27 from youngster Jamie Young held the Henley attack at bay for a while, no other Thatcham batsman was able to offer any real resistance.
With only two other batsmen reaching double figures Thatcham were dismissed for a disappointing 90.

Defending such a low total was always going to be an uphill struggle and with youngsters opening the batting and going for their shots Henley were quickly halfway to their target. However Matt Taylor with two wickets and debutant Sam Winfield with his first senior wicket pegged things by back before Roseff and Pinder saw them home in the 19th over. Matt Taylor finishing with 2 for 26 and Sam Winfield 1 for 23.

Thatcham slip down to 6th in the table but with 17 teams in the division a commendable effort this season with the weather and variable availabilities having such an impact on results.
