Match report Thatcham travelled to sunny Swindon on Sunday and were asked to bowl first on a rather hot day. Thatcham opened with youth in the form of Taylor and Mahoney Jnr (2-29). Taylor was replaced by N.Redmond (3-40) who had an immediate impact in removing both openers. This however bought together the much more experienced middle order pairing of Tucker (51) and Bessant (26).
Will Harwood (3-34) got the wicket of Bessant caught by Wylie. Baden (47*) was next in and he added a further 41 with Tucker. After drinks Mahoney Jnr was introduced and he ‘cleaned’ Tucker up first ball. Baden and Novais (37) helped Swindon along to a challenging 214 on a slow and very low wicket.
Mahoney Jnr and Will Harwood were impressive with the ball.

Thatcham opened up with a bizarre combination in The Brom (30) and Eddie (28) who batted remarkably sensibly and they added 61 for the first wicket. After Eddie departed Melville and unfortunately Bromhead didn’t last much longer either.
Braine (1) and N Redmond (9) also departed without really troubling the scorer.
It was left to father and son to get Thatcham a deserved score. Tom in particular showed great ability in placing his shots and Tim was dispatching the ball to the boundary Thatcham finished on 157-6.

Swindon were ultimately to strong for Thatcham, but credit must go to Bromhead, Eddie, Will and Tom for showing the more senior members up.

Thatcham last game is away to Andover on 2nd September.
