Match report Thatcham 1’s XI entertained Theale & Tilehurst, in a Friendly at Brownsfield on Sunday.

After being asked to bat by the visitors, Thatcham’s young side lost wickets at regular intervals.

However, the Thatcham innings was held together by Martin Keep who received good support from Kieran Lynch 15 and The Bromhead 15.

Thatcham struggling to 153 for 8 but with skipper Simon Rider coming in at 10 after recovering from his hangover, he and Keep progressed the score to 183 for 8 in the 34th over.

Unfortunately, it was at this point the rain came and put a halt to proceedings.

Keep was left in the rain after recording his maiden century, 121 not out, which included 17 fours and solitary six which brought up his ton.

The pick of the visitor’s bowlers was Kumar with 2 for 16 from 6 overs.
