Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 2XI- Saturday v Teddington Town on Sat 14 Jun 2008 at 1.30pm
Match was Drawn

Match report Thatcham II’s held on for a draw for the second week running after conceding a large score.
Teddington elected to bat and struggled early on against Peter Edgcombe (1-73) and Daniel Stephenson with the former removing the prolific Watchorn for 20. Unfortunately last week’s fielding errors were again to haunt the home side as Gawan survived two straightforward chances on his way to 63 before ageing hero Tim Mahoney (1-62) brought his innings to an end.
Good contributions from Tamblingson and DeGoode with 41 apiece and Patel 43 sped Teddington on to a declaration at 261-5 from 51 overs. Simon Rider bowled well at the end taking 2-44 from 7.

With a good wicket and fast outfield the target was certainly within reach but the ever accurate May quickly removed Matthew Denness, Simon Rider and Iain Cottingham to put Thatcham firmly on the back foot, although Stuart Newman was putting up a fight with some fine counter attacking strokes.
May was replaced by De Goode who started with two wicket maidens as Stephens Bird and Bartholomew came and went and Thatcham reached the halfway point, 25 overs, at 61-5, with Newman on 44.
He was joined by skipper Robb Fraser and the pair quickly set about getting their side back into the game. Newman passed fifty for the first time for Thatcham and Fraser finally found some form and batted in his usual belligerent style. Their partnership rattled along to 90 in just 11 overs when a misunderstanding saw Newman sadly run out for a brilliant 89 with 13 fours.
With only four wickets left many sides would have called off the chase but it isn’t really Thatcham’s style as John Williams showed with a cameo of 19 and when Edgcombe despatched Teddington’s quickie for four through the covers the visitors knew the game was still on.
Unfortunately Fraser’s wicket brought an end to the chase as a miscued hook ended up in fine leg’s hands and he was gone for 68, 9 fours and 3 sixes. Patel quickly removed Mahoney to leave the last pair of Edgcombe and Stephenson to bat out four overs which they did with few alarms with Edgcombe 23 not out.
May 3-37, DeGoode 3-47 and Patel 2-40 did the damage for Teddington.
