Match report Thatcham II lost the toss against Chenies & Latimer and soon lost their heads as wickets tumbled in quick succession on a dry and lively strip.

Bird, Young, Rider, Huckins and Bartholomew all departed within the first 15 overs leaving the score at a devastating 18 for 5. A small cameo from John Williams (21) and a dogged 17 from skipper Robb Fraser allowed the visitors some respite but unfortunately they could not sustain the flow of runs and soon succumbed to the bowling of Coetzee (7 for 38) exposing the Thatcham tail. A small rain cloud interrupted play and forced an early tea before the 10th wicket partnership of Perry Moore (25*) and Tim Mahoney (10) added some respect to the Thatcham innings finishing on 115 all out.

With some grey clouds around Thatcham had to hope for some early success if they were to put any pressure on the home side, however G. Issacs had other ideas and soon set about destroying the Thatcham bowling attack scoring 43 from the first 8 overs putting Chenies & Latimer in a commanding position of 65 for 1. Although some good bowling from Moore (2 for 27) and Gary Waterston (1 for 20) gave Thatcham a glimmer, it was too little too late as the home side cruised past the target with 7 wickets to spare giving them their first win of the season.

Thatcham will need to regroup quickly after the defeat as they will be hosting Henley next week who have won 8 out of their last 10 games and sit at the top of the table.
