Match report A disappointing bowling performance saw Thatcham II crash to a five wicket defeat away at Marlow Park on Saturday.

Batting first Simon Rider (22) and Chris Brown made steady progress adding 78 in 22 overs when Brown fell for a composed 55. Rider soon followed but this brought Rakesh Patel and Martin Keep together.
Neither wasted an opportunity to score with Patel particularly harsh on everything. He raced past fifty as the run rate increased and the pair puton 90 when Keep fell for 30. Fraser soon followed for 0 but Jamie Young (17 n.o) ensured Patel had most of the strike for the last ten overs and he made the most of it, reaching his century with his 14th four. Patel finished on 131 not out as the declaration came after 50 overs at 260-4.

Thatcham made an early breakthrough as Khan fell to Jason Williams having hit him for two sixes but Potgieter (75) and Hawkins made the most of some loose bowling to fly along at seven an over.
Perry Moore removed Hawkins for 29 but Salina continued in the same vein and Thatcham found no way to stem the flow of boundaries. At 150 two wickets fell, one each to John Williams and Tim Mahoney as Thatcham saw a glimmer of light, but Francis and Miller had plenty of time and it wasn’t long before they joined the run spree.
Patel managed one more wicket but Marlow Park got home with 10 overs to spare.
