Match report Thatcham 3rd Xi put in a below par performance against a promising Henley 4th Xi going down by 100 runs at a damp Stonor Park.
Electing bat Henley made steady progress against a Thatcham attack lacking the necessary control to put pressure on the Henley batsmen. Nathan Redmond (1-23) was a touch unlucky though to pick up just the one wicket.
T.Chappel (33) , M.Thomas (53) and J.Knight (37) made contribtions, but it was the extras column that top scored with 56. Skipper Malcolm Bloor (1-31) showing the most control as Henley delclared on reaching 203 from 49 overs.

In reply Thatcham lost two quick wickets , but 16 year oold Jamie Young (14) again showed maturity beyond his years facing a talented Henley seam attack led by J,Harris (4-19). Young and Sean Huckins (25) did steady the ship only to be parted in quick sucession, Bloor top scored with (27) , but wickets fell too regularly, however Mike Hobbs did put up 13 overs worth of stubborn resistance before he became W.Allen’s second victim as Thatcham were bowled out for 103 and in the process picking up only 3 points to Henleys 25.

A wake up call for any aspirations for promotion.
