Match report Thatcham entertained top of the table Windsor on Saturday, which turned out to be a good game with both sides picking up points.
Windsor won the toss and elected to bat first and opener S. Ward justified his captain’s decision batting superbly to hold the Windsor innings together with a well made 120 before falling to Voller in the 52nd over. There were also contributions from Houghton (18) Clifford (18) and Martin (16) who was brilliantly ran out by Matty Taylor.
Windsor finished on 229-8 from their 52overs. Thatcham fielded and bowled very well and very unlucky that Windsor made 200, every bowler bowled well.
Taylor (1-26), Wylie (2-21), Hobbs (1-31), Redmond (1-45), and Voller who bowled a mammoth spell of 22 overs, was unlucky with only 1 wicket (1-93)
Thatcham were just missing one experienced bowler who could have tied an end up.

After an excellent tea by Mrs Young, Thatcham went out to bat looking for victory. Stone (18) and Taylor (11) opened up but found the bowlers difficult to get away, in particular Martin who bowled 18 overs and took 4-28. With Stone and Taylor out Thatcham looked to regroup through Jamie Young (34) and Redmond (11) with Young again the stand out batsman showing maturity beyond his years battled through the Windsor attack. With the score stuttering the Windsor captain Doree (2-52) came on and bowled his grenade’s to good effect accounting for Redmond and Young who were trying to pick up the pace. Voller and Huckins played well, hitting Doree out of the attack but they both fell in quick succession for 23 and 25 respectively, which left Thatcham batting out for the draw on 144-7 form the 48 overs.. Martin was the stand out bowler for Windsor proving hard to get away.

After two positives displays, Thatcham travel to Slough next week, with some much needed experience back to call upon.
