Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 3XI- Saturday v Henley IV on Sat 19 Jul 2008 at 1.30pm
Thatcham Town Cricket Club Won by 33 runs
Match report
Thatcham 3RD XI gained a most valuable win over a talented Henley 4th xi on Saturday.
Put in to bat on a “pudding“ at Henwick, Thatcham made a solid start through Iain Cottingham and Bob Gadsden before the latter was trapped LBW to Pook (3-55). Nic Monger made (23), but the key partnership was between Cottingham and Skipper Malcolm Bloor as batting became more and more difficult on such a soft surface. Cottingham evently went stumped for (53) from a 168 balls with Bloor unbeaten on (45) and Eddie Wylie again unbeaten on 16 as Thatcham closed on 206-5.
Thatcham retained the old ball and Mongers off spin opened up, and with Bloor (1-20) Henley were struggling on 34-3. Knight (36) led the recovery only to succombe to Eddie Wylie’s swing (3-37). although hard hitting from Dennison (23) always kept Henley in the game. Mongers returned took out the tail as he finished with (5-45) and Henley were dismissed for 173.
Thatcham picking up a much needed maximum 25 points.
