Match report Thatcham Town 4th XI poor start to the season continued with a resounding defeat at the hands of a well drilled Cove Academy XI at Henwick on Saturday.

On a very damp wicket runs were always gong to be hard to come by but there was no excuse for a dismal batting performance that saw Thatcham bowled out for 58 in only 22 overs. Dave Taylor with 23 not out was the only batsman to reach double figures.

In reply the Cove openers showed just how to bat in such conditions, putting together a watchful and patient unbeaten partnership to overhaul the Thatcham total in the 28th over. A marked all round improvement is now required if we are to be competitive at this level.
