Match report A whirlwind 115 from S Razi put paid to any hopes Thatcham 4’s had of recording their first TVL win of the season away at Royal Ascot 3’s on Saturday. With the exception of Gavin Ansell, who finished with an admirable 2 for 32 from 16 overs, all the Thatcham bowlers had their figures badly dented by the hard-hitting Razi, who enabled Royal Ascot to declare on 241 for 8 after 49 overs.

In reply Thatcham were again indebted to youngsters Adam Philip’s (26) and Jack Andrews, who again batted superbly for a chanceless 70, to at least claim three batting points as they were all out for 154 in the 46th over. Royal Ascot bowled with more control and on a low slow wicket the win was always a tall order, but it was disappointing that Thatcham could not salvage a draw from this match.
