Match report With by far the best all round performance of the season so far Thatcham 4th XI comprehensively beat Wokingham Oaks and Acorns to claim a much needed 25 points at Bearwood College on Saturday.

Batting first almost all the Thatcham batsmen made telling contributions, with Darren Sopp on his 4thXI debut hitting a chanceless 48, and Andy Stephenson with 44 being the top scorers. However it was pleasing to see the youngsters hitting form with the bat, with Adrian Bromhead (24) Matty Taylor (28) and another debutant Tommy Burch (29) all making the most of the favourable conditions, enabling the declaration to come after 48 overs with the score on 255 for 9.

With front line bowlers missing Wokingham struggled to stay in the game and only R Runham with 5 for 68 from 17 overs bowled with the control required on this wicket.

With short boundaries and a quick outfield the Thatcham bowlers had to be on the spot from the start and so it proved as the early dismissal of the dangerous Herrington led to procession of wickets as Thatcham took control of the game. Only P Timmins who put bat to ball with great effect for his 54, and M Orgill, showed any real resistance as Wokingham were bowled out for 116 in the 33rd over.

Again it was the colts who bowled and fielded to great effect with Will Harwood and Matty Taylor particularly impressive taking 3 for 33, and 2 for 11 respectively. Ben Cruise with 2 for 19 and Gavin Ansell with 1 for 17 were the other wicket takers
