Match report Thatcham were beaten by 7 wickets away to Hurst.

Winning the toss Thatcham chose to bat with skipper Josh O’Flynn and Ben Denton-Powell opening the batting. The score had reached 22 when Denton-Powell was bowled by Christopher McCarthy. Rhys Williams joined O’Flynn and together they added 34 until O’Flynn was bowled by Phil Higgs for 32. 20 runs were added by Williams and Jamie Young, after which 3 wickets fell - Young bowled Higgs, Tom Mahoney caught McCarthy bowled Lewis Smith and Jack Young bowled Smith. As the score reached 100, Thatcham lost their sixth wicket when Steve Bartholomew was caught Oliver Lovegrove off the bowling of Higgs. Williams was quick to follow caught Nick Reynolds bowled Higgs for 35. Ryan Gilmour was lbw Smith, Nick Bishop suffering the same fate lbw Smith. Chris Bird and Mike Green dug in a bit until Bird became Smith’s fifth victim,caught Connor White for 13.

Thatcham were all out for 136 off 40.5 overs.

Hurst batting opened with Alex Kayser and Max Carroll with Carroll leading the charge scoring 41 of the 47 partnership until caught by Bird off Gilmour’s bowling. Kayser was run out with a direct hit from Denton-Powell for 10. Smith was stumped by keeper Jamie Young bowled Bishop for 23. Lovegrove joined James Watt in the middle and together they knocked off the 46 runs required, Watt finishing on 36 not out and Lovegrove 22 not out.

Thatcham wicket takers were Bishop 1 for 32 and Gilmour 1 for 48.

Thatcham travel to Aldershot next week hoping for a much better performance.
