Match report Thatcham ended their losing streak with a 5 wicket victory away to Aldershot.

Winning the toss, stand in skipper Jamie Young decided to try their luck at chasing and asked Aldershot to bat. Aldershot openers Alex Farr and Calum Grover took the score to 39. When Farr was caught Nick Bishop bowled Ryan Gilmour for 17, Andrew Taylor joined Grover and was bowled Chris Bird caught Peter Spriggs for 13. Bird then picked up the wickets of Grover stumped Jamie Young for 34 and Ella Chandler lbw for 22. Bird’s spin partner Bishop got Ben Harris caught in the deep by Gilmour for 27 and he then caught and bowled Ahmed Faraz for 18. Bird bowled Kyle Kisko for 11 and got Nicholas Biscontin caught by keeper Young for 24. Gilmour replaced Bishop in the attack and bowled Greg Fanshawe for 10. Ibraaheem Ahmed became Bird’s sixth victim getting trapped lbw for 1. Tom Varney remained 4 not out. Aldershot were all out for 197 off 49.3 overs.

Thatcham opened their innings with Peter Spriggs and Ben Denton-Powell who built a 50 run partnership before Spriggs was caught by Kisko off Fanshawe for 23. Denton-Powell soon followed , caught Taylor off Biscontin for 26. Rhys Williams and Steve Bartholomew added 45 before Bartholomew fell for 22, caught Harris bowled Ahmed. Jack Young joined Williams before Williams was bowled Ahmed for 30. Gilmour joined Young and they added 65 until Young departed for 34. Jamie Young and Gilmour put together a partnership of 31 to get Thatcham over the line, Gilmour finishing on 54 not out and Young 6 not out. Thatcham reached 199 for 5 off 46 overs.
