Match report The Thatcham Town 3's cricket season has been eagerly anticipated and the first match of the season, at home to Finchampstead 5's, did not disappoint. 

Newly appointed Skipper, Joe Harwood, won the toss at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground and chose to bat first. Tom Cogdell playing his first match for some time, returned in sparkling form, top scoring with a glorious 113 not out. Sharing in a 155 run opening partnership with Joe Harwood (69). The home team found themselves 155 - 1 after 24 overs. The opening pairs concentration and patience were a key theme, blocking anything straight and biding their time waiting for a bad ball. And then punishing it. Will Sharp, 27 not out, not only helped his average but helped the home team to set a total of 245 - 1 off their 40 overs. 

Buoyed by the batting display, the Trouts' were confident going in to the second half of the match. Co-Captain, Jack Steadman and youngster, Oscar Moore opened the bowling. Applying pressure straight away with full and straight bowling, Finch were reduced to 60 - 4 off 15 overs. Debutant Oscar Moore, at 12-years-old, bowled terrifically. 

Veteran Finch batsmen, G Woodford frustrated the home side though with a brilliant knock of 129 not out. 

Will Harwood, Odhin Moore and Nick McKay all contributed with the ball in the middle overs. With Steadman and Oscar Moore returning to ensure that Thatcham won the match by 21 runs. 

A very young 3's team enjoyed being back on the field and performed very well. The future is looking bright.
