Thatcham Town Cricket Club Thatcham 2XI- Saturday v Reading III on Sat 15 Aug 2009 at **12.30pm** Earlier start time
Thatcham Town Cricket Club Won by 3 wickets

Match report Thatcham II’s claimed only their third win of the season despite their best efforts to throw it away with some fairly inept batting.

Reading III’s batsmen never got to grips with any of the home side’s bowlers as a top score of 26 in a total of 116 all out would suggest. With the fielding good once again to back them up Edmund Edge (2-13), Paul Jenkins (2-15) and Perry Moore (3-27) kept things under control the whole way through the innings with Simon Rider, John Williams and Nick Monger each taking a wicket in support.

Reading opened with spin which seemed to suit Rakesh Patel as he moved quickly to 19 before holing out at mid on. Stuart Newman soon followed to mid off but Simon Rider and Tom Mahoney moved comfortably along, taking the score up to 88 before Rider gave some catching practice and was gone for 35. Mahoney followed four runs later for 24 Thatcham started wobbling. Chris Rochfort and Paul Jenkins soon went as well and when Robb Fraser was surprisingly given out lbw they’d lost five for 19.
However, Nick Monger and John Williams made sure of the win as Thatcham got home in 28.1 overs.
