Match report Thatcham 3RD XI gained an invaluable 2 wicket win at Farnham Common on Saturday in a match reduced to 80 overs.

Skipper Malcolm Bloor won the toss for the first time this season and asked the home side to bat. Matt Taylor then proceeded to rip out the order with only N.White (36) reaching double figures. Nathan Redmond (5-42) plugged away from the other end as he steadily whittled away the middle order as Farnham slumped to 67-7. Taylor returned to complete his first 5 wicket haul to finish with (5-30) as Farnham were routed for 103.

In reply, Thatcham’s innings was delayed because of rain, but once play restarted Iain Cottingham (22) and Martin Keep (14) got away to a positive start and with Felix Hartley – Russell (29) Thatcham appeared to be cruising
At 72-1 from 12 overs, but an extraordinary collapse saw them falter to 93-8 in the next 10 overs, but Thatcham managed to get home as Bloor and Jack Young spent an agonising 10 more overs in reaching the target to win by 2 wickets and pick up a much need 20 points.
