Match report Thatcham 3rd xi secured their best win of the season as they demolished top and previously unbeaten Purley at Henwick on Saturday.

Put into bat on a soft top Thatcham young openers Felix Harltley-Russell (19)
And Josh Winfield (15) showed great patience in dealing with the new ball. Ravi Mirchandani (36) and Mike Hobbs (38) also batted well before both falling to veteran Cyril Cox (3-59). The obligatory middle order collapse left the home side with their work cut out to post a good score, but skipper Malcolm Bloor (45 not out ) and the versatile Eddie Wylie (16 not out) saw the home side to 200-7 from their allotted 52 overs.

In response Purley lacked the patience shown by Thatcham’s youngsters as Matt Taylor (2-19) struck twice early on. R.Sennippan (40) completed a good all round display, but Purley’s insistence in playing their shots too soon paid dividends for Thatcham as Nathan Redmond (4-30) and Gavin Ansell (3-23) completed the route as Purley were dismissed for 96 in only 26 overs.
Thatcham travel to unbeaten Sonning this week now lying 3rd in the table.
