Match report On a glorious morning at Brownsfield, it was great to see the team out playing our first match of the season and for many of the players, their first match for the club.

We came up against a tough opponent in East Woodhay. Following the toss that our opposition won, we were asked to bat first.

Our opening pair of Charlie and Owen got us off to a solid start against some accurate bowling. Charlie played a couple of great shots that were fielded well and, on another day, could have quite easily found the boundary.

East Woodhay continued to bowl with good discipline and picked up wickets at regular intervals alongside fielding well and picking up some run outs as well. All of the team stood up well to a good bowling attack, and it was good to see some positive shots from everyone, which will give us as coaches a good platform to work with at our training sessions.

We finished our innings with a total score of 275, but with the wickets lost, it meant a final net score of 190.

After the break-in between innings, our captain Alastair got us off to a good start with the ball. Cara followed this up with a well taken wicket in her first over, bowling one of the opening batsmen.

East Woodhay picked up runs and were also helped by a regularly ticking over extras column. I'm really pleased to see Owen, Noah, and Charlie picking up their first wickets for the club. Charlie, in particular, bowled with really good pace and accuracy and was unlucky not to get more than his one wicket.

East Woodhay finished their innings on 326 for the loss of 4 wickets, so a final net score of 306.

I'm proud of all of the team today for the effort that you all put in. You were all a credit to Thatcham Town Cricket Club and we will use this mornings game as a platform to kick on over the course of the season.
