Match report A great team performance saw us pick up our first win of season.

Having lost the toss, the opposition elected to bat first. Alastair took the first over and led by example as team captain picking up a wicket in his first over! This set the tone for the innings with us doing really well with our bowling. Oscar Sydney-Smith in particular finishing his two overs with figures of 3 wickets for just 1 run! 👏

Bobby also picked up a wicket, plus we got 1 run out in the innings, totalling 6 wickets taken in all. It was particularly good to see some of the work done on Fridays training session on walking in and backing up put into practice when fielding, which helped towards us only conceding 36 runs off the bat. A great effort by everyone!

After taking into account extras and then factoring in wickets lost, the Theale innings closed on 275.

We set about our batting innings in very positive fashion, with Alastair and Oscar Sydney-Smith playing some great shots. Alastair in particular really took it to opposition with a great knock of 28, which included 5 fours and 1 six! 💪

All of the team contributed positively to the innings, with either scoring some runs or protecting their wicket to ensure we didn't loose any unnecessary wickets. Alex chipped in with a good 10 which included 2 fours and Owen made 6 not out.

Again, from the training session on Friday, the calling between the wickets was very much improved on the last game. There was no run out at all in our innings which was down to the communication between the players when batting in their pairs. Really well done!

We finished our innings on 330 for the loss of just 4 wickets, which meant a final total score of 310.

A first tick in the win column for the season, which contributed for a very successful Sunday for the club with the Sunday senior team winning (including a classy looking 50 from Olly 👏🏏) and the u11s dominating their junior game on Sunday morning also!
