Match report Thatcham managed a draw away to Fleet on Saturday.

Winning the toss Thatcham asked Fleet to bat. Fleet openers Jake English and David Gurney got off to a good start putting on 49 for the first wicket. English was then caught Tom Mahoney bowled Josh O’Flynn for 29. Ryan Gilmour then had Gurney caught by Nick Bishop for 47. Harry Byewaters nicked one to keeper Jack Young off Gilmour for 25. Bishop then got in on the act bowling Howard Byewaters for 58. Jonathan Comfort was trapped lbw by Chris Bird for 4. Alex Leavold reached 27 when caught O’Flynn bowled Bishop. Ciaran Byrne was run out by Ben Denton-Powell for 1. Anthony Muir became Bishop’s third victim caught Mike Green for 7. Bird then cleaned up the Fleet innings getting Khrishan Patel caught by Green for 18 and bowling Tom Chillery. Peter Talbot remained 1 not out and Fleet finished on 220 all out off 51.5 overs.

Thatcham lost a couple of early wickets at the start of their chase. Opener Peter Spriggs caught Talbot off the bowling of Muir for 5. Talbot then claimed the wicket of Rhys Williams caught Comfort. O’Flynn then holed out on the boundary caught by Howard Byewaters for 15. Next to go was Denton-Powell bowled Talbot for 8. A partnership of 93 was achieved by Steve Bartholomew and Mahoney until Bartholomew was bowled by Howard Byewaters for 32. Jack Young joined Mahoney briefly being caught lbw by Howard Byewaters. Gilmour then built a partnership of 40 with Mahoney until Gilmour was caught by Muir off the bowling of Talbot for 24. Mahoney was finally out caught by keeper Patel off the bowling of Muir for 70. Bird and Bishop remained not out on 5 and 13 respectively. Thatcham’s innings closed on 178 for 8 off 48 overs.
